Pune:

In a shocking incident, an engineer was defrauded of Rs 1 crore 10 lakh 50 thousand by promising a 30 percent annual profit if he invested in the accused’s company. Astonishingly, when the engineer demanded his money back, the accused threatened to kill him and his family.

In this case, Appaso Dattatray Shendge (age 56, a resident of Anand Nagar, Sinhagad Road, and an original native of Hatnur, Taluka Tasgaon, District Sangli) has filed a complaint at Sinhagad Road Police Station. Based on this, the police have registered a case against Laxmikant Nathuram Trivedi (a resident of Bharat Shri Apartment, Erandwane). This incident took place between August 1, 2020, and June 30, 2024.

As per the police information, the plaintiff was working as a design consultant in Malaysia for a few years. After his contract ended there, he came back to India and settled in Pune. There he met Laxmikant Trivedi. After some initial acquaintance with the plaintiff, Trivedi promised him to give an annual return of 30 percent if he invested in his company, Vikarsh Stamping India. Accordingly, the plaintiff invested a total of Rs 1 crore 10 lakh 50 thousand in September and October 2020 in Trivedi’s company.

However, after that, the accused started ignoring the plaintiff. When the plaintiff asked the accused about his money, the accused started avoiding him. After that, the accused took the plaintiff as a technical director in his company. But, when the plaintiff again demanded his money back from the accused, he gave four checks of Rs 81 lakh to the plaintiff on May 2, 2022.

To the plaintiff’s surprise, when he deposited those checks in the bank, he found that the accused did not have sufficient balance in his account. Therefore, when the plaintiff went to confront Trivedi about it, the accused threatened to kill the plaintiff and his family. In this regard, the police sub-inspector, Amol Malusare, is investigating further.
