Pune: Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane has demanded that the State Government should expedite the rehabilitation of the Khadak Police Colony and the redevelopment of the Tehsildar office.

The Police Colony is 125 years old and was built during British rule. Police personnel are staying in these dilapidated, tiled 250-sq ft accommodations to serve the people 24X7. Walls are cracked, windows are broken and the drainage system is in a poor condition. This is a pathetic picture. Therefore, the 139 units need to be rehabilitated, said Rasane.

The Tehsildar office’s redevelopment was approved in 2004. However, the project dragged on for 20 years during the Congress rule. The premises house the Pune City Tehsildar office, the Umaji Naik Memorial and Khadak Police Station. However, there is no sitting arrangement for citizens. There are no chairs and drinking water facilities. The road leading to the premises is narrow and has been encroached upon. Therefore, the State Government should expedite the redevelopment, said Rasane.
