Pune: Female Accountant Embezzles Rs 14.45 Lakh From Pune School, Steals Records and Registrar to Cover Theft

A shocking incident has come to light from Pune, where a woman embezzled Rs 16.89 lakh deposited by parents for school fees, pre-primary fees, and school uniforms while working as an accountant in a school and fled. To hide this embezzlement, she stole 8 accounting registers and receipt books from school.

In this regard, Sanjay Vasant Modak (age 53, a resident of Gadital, Hadapsar) of Modak International School has filed a complaint at Loni Kalbhor police station. Based on this, the police have registered a case against Sheetal Venkatesh Gore (age 40, a resident of Sanskriti Colony, Bhekrai Nagar, Fursungi).

This incident took place at Modak International School in Loni Kalbhor between January 10, 2023, and June 21, 2024.

According to police reports, Sheetal Gore, an accountant at Modak International School, has been accused of embezzling Rs 14,45,388 from the institution. The misappropriated amount includes Rs 8,49,300 in academic fees, Rs 1,57,278 in pre-primary fees, and Rs 4,38,810 in school uniform fees.

To conceal her fraudulent activities, Gore allegedly broke into the cabin of Sanjay Modak, a senior school official, and stole Rs 2,44,000 in cash along with eight accounting registers and receipt books. Following the theft, she abruptly resigned from her position at the school.

The fraud came to light during a school audit, prompting the administration to file a formal police complaint against her at the Loni Kalbhor police station. Police Sub-Inspector Ratnadeep Birajdar is currently leading the investigation into the case.
