Pune: Final Phase of PCMC to Swargate Metro Line Nears Completion: Service to Begin Soon, Says Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol
Pune: The last phase of the PCMC to Swargate metro line, covering the stretch from Shivaji Nagar District Court to Swargate, is nearing completion, with only a few technical clearances pending. This was confirmed by Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol, during a review of the ongoing metro works alongside metro officials. At the time of review, MLA Madhuri Misal, Maha Metro Managing Director, Shravan Hardikar, and other officials were also present.
Mohol said that the underground metro line from District Court to Swargate is expected to commence operations in the coming days, following the completion of some architectural work and the acquisition of necessary technical approvals. The Maha Metro team is working rapidly to fulfil these requirements to make the route operational for the public.
He also noted that the construction of stations at Kasba Peth, Mandai, and Swargate along this six-kilometre stretch has been completed. “The renaming process for certain stations on this route has been finalised, and the official gazette notification is expected soon. The route is anticipated to be inaugurated shortly thereafter,” said Mohol.
Additionally, Mohol mentioned that the Bhoomipujan for the Swargate to Katraj subway, which was recently approved by the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will also take place soon. He highlighted that the Vanaz to Ramwadi metro route is nearly 100% complete and is already being well utilised by Punekars. The entire 17.5 km stretch from PCMC to Swargate is 90% operational, with the Civil Court to Swargate section being completed recently.
Mohol further assured that the extended metro lines from Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi will receive the necessary approvals, and work on these extensions will commence at the earliest.
