Pune: Find permanent solution to waterlogging in housing societies on Samarth Path, Vitthal Mandir road in Karve Nagar and those opposite Maj Tathawade Garden: Sandeep Khardekar
Pune: BJP State Spokesman Sandeep Khardekar has drawn the civic body’s attention to waterlogging in housing societies and has demanded a permanent solution to the issue by seeking the guidance of experts.
Khardekar said, “Chintamani, Ganganagari, Moryakrupa and other housing societies opposite Pratidnya Mangal Karyalaya on Samarth Path have been getting majorly inundated for the past two years during rains. Shops also get flooded in this area while a heavy rain is causing flooding. Parking spaces in these societies get water-logged. Since power meters are also located in parkings, power needs to be switched off for the safety purpose and all residents suffer.
“Last year, the then Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar personally supervised the pumping-out of water till late in the night. A similar situation arose on June 8 this year. I alerted the civic body then.
“Heavy flooding is witnessed in Sneh Mhada Society, Kumar Paritosh Society on Vitthal Mandir Road, the three bungalows and the society in front of Shahid Maj Tathawade Garden and Rajput Vitbhatti, Khilarewadi areas near the riverbed. The civic administration pumps out water but the system is falling short.
“I insist that a permanent solution should be found to the issue. After the current spell of showers subsides, a survey should be conducted not only in this area but also in other such areas in the city and measures should be taken under the guidance of experts for a long-term solution.”
