Pune: Fire Breaks Out on Illegal Hoarding During PMC Action Due to Negligence with Gas Cutter; Here’s What Happened

Pune: In a late-night operation, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) took action against an illegal hoarding at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk in Pimpri. However, the operation took a dramatic turn when a fire broke out during the removal process.
The incident has raised serious questions about the safety measures taken by the municipal authorities. While cutting the hoarding with a gas cutter, the banner on it suddenly caught fire and was completely destroyed in the blaze. Concerns are being raised as to why the civic body chose to carry out the action at midnight and whether proper precautions were taken.
Had the officials removed the banner before using the gas cutter, the fire might have been avoided. Unfortunately, the flames consumed the entire banner, leaving it charred.
What makes the situation even more sensitive is that the banner featured photos of newly elected Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Anna Bansode and RPI National President Ramdas Athawale both of whom hold significant constitutional positions. Their images were completely burned in the fire, adding to the controversy.
