Pune: Fire Brigade Personnel of PCMC Drowned at Chaskaman Dam
Pune: With the onset of the monsoon, a large number of people visit places such as dams, waterfalls, etc. However, in this, a large number of people lost their lives after being drowned in it. Yesterday, a similar incident took place at the Chaskaman Dam in Khed Taluka. A member of the fire brigade team drowned in the dam after he could not understand the depth of the water.
The drowned fire brigade personal is named Pratap Sayaji Phanase (age 41, a resident of Nagpur Chawl, Yerawada). Phanse was working in the fire brigade team of Pune Municipal Corporation.
Yesterday, Phanase, along with his few friends, went to the Chaskaman Dam for a holiday. At that time, Phanse entered the dam for swimming but unfortunately drowned as he could not understand the depth of the water.
Seeing him drown, two of his friends also jumped into the dam to save Phanase; however, they could not save him. With the help of Bibi Gram Panchayat Sub-Sarpanch Deepak Kalekar, Vijay Dore, Ajay Khande, Suraj Dore, Chandrakant Dore, fishermen, and local residents, Phanase’s body was found and taken out of the water.
Due to recurring drowning incidents, the district commissioner of Pune ordered a complete ban on visiting the tourist spots in the district. In spite of that, a large number of people visit such places, endangering their lives. The administration has advised caution while visiting dangerous tourist places in the monsoon.
