Pune: Flat owner among 11 arrested in a raid on gambling den in Kothrud

Pune: The Kothrud Police raided a gambling den being operated from a flat in Kothrud and arrested 11 people, including the flat owner and the den operator. Valuables worth Rs 60,980 were confiscated from them.
The accused were identified as flat owner Nilesh Dattatraya Adkar (50), den operator Ganesh Nathu Dahibhate (50), Santosh Vitthal Jori (47), all residents of Kothrud, Kiran Dattatraya Agnen (48), resident of Paud Road, Surendra Ranganath Katkar (53) and Pravin Prataprao Jahagirdar (68), both residents of SB Road, Sachin Balkrishna Chougule (43), resident of Chinchwad, Sadanand Ishwar Sonawane (64), resident of Yerwada, Laxmikant Pandurang Kasar (46), resident of Karve Nagar, Pramod Gulabrao Jadhav (44), resident of Wakad, and Yogesh Ratnesh Mishra (42), resident of Hadapsar. They are lawyers, architects, realtors and retired professionals.
Policeman Jaikumar Kharat lodged a complaint at the Kothrud Police Station. The incident took place at 11 pm at Guru Ganesh Nagar in Rajhans Colony in Kothrud on Saturday (March 29).
According to the police, API Balaji Sanap and his colleagues were patrolling in Kothrud on the eve of Ramzan Eid. They got a tip-off that gambling was underway at Nilesh Adkar’s flat. The police raided the flat, where some people were gambling by arranging some tables. Wads of currency notes were lying on them. The police detained them and confiscated cash and playing cards worth Rs 60,980. API Balaji Sanap was investigating further.
