Pune: Friend abandons injured youth to die at school ground

Pune: Two friends were riding a two-wheeler when they collided with a car. The pillion rider youth received injuries to his head and other parts of the body.

However, the other youth abandoned the injured friend at a school grounds and disappeared. Consequently, the injured youth died due to delayed treatment.

The incident took place in front of Pushpa Mangal Karyalaya in Bibwewadi in the wee hours of Wednesday (December 25). Had his friend not abandoned him, he could have been saved.

The victim was identified as Krushna Laxman Sasane. The accused was identified as Santosh Nagnath Bhise (25), a resident of Market Yard. They were returning home on Wednesday night. Bhise was riding the two-wheeler. He drove in the wrong direction in front of Pushpak Mangal Karyalaya and collided with a car. Sasane, who was riding pillion, received serious injuries to his head, foot, nose and knee.

According to PSI Ashok Yewale, the car driver took them to Sassoon Hospital after the accident. However, they fought at the hospital. Bhise did not admit his friend to the hospital and came back with him. He abandoned Krushna at the Chintamani Deshmukh Urdu School without reporting the matter to the police.

Sasane needed treatment urgently. However, Bhise ruthlessly left him alone. The police found his body the next day at the school grounds. The police checked CCTV footage and found out that the accident took place in the wee hours. They also found out that Sasane was injured in the accident. The police booked Bhise under sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

PSI Ashok Yewale lodged a complaint at the Bibwewadi Police Station and investigated the matter.
