Pune: Goon held for extortion in Pimpri-Chinchwad (Video)
Pune / Pimpri: A goon has been arrested for indulging in ‘hafta vasuli’ (extortion) from a paan shop owner in Pimple Gurav. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media.
Finally, the Sangvi Police reprimanded him and told him to apologise for his conduct. The accused has been identified as Nakul alias Nakya Gaikwad. Mahendra Shyam Bahadur Pratap Singh lodged a complaint at the Sangvi Police Station.
The Sangvi Police immediately arrested Gaikwad after the clip started circulating. The shop owner was running his business as usual. Gaikwad and his accomplice approached him and demanded ‘hafta’ by beating and abusing him. Gaikwad threatened him that he was known to local people in Pimple Gurav. If he refused to pay the extortion, he would face dire consequences. Gaikwad’s accomplice filmed the incident on his mobile phone and posted it on social media. The police moved quickly and apprehended the culprit.
After dealing with him strictly, Gaikwad started apologising and promised that he would not indulge in such activities. Gaikwad was booked as a minor accused in an attempt to murder case. This was revealed by Sr PI Mahesh Bansode.
