Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee has approved a proposal to hand over all government properties, except those belonging to the PMC, within the limits of the newly formed Fursungi-Uruli Devachi Municipal Council to the latter.

Fursungi and Uruli Devachi villages were merged with the PMC in 2017. Later, the civic body started providing basic civic amenities to the villages. Earlier, the two villages were under the Zilla Parishad administration. Therefore, all government properties in the villages were handed over to the PMC.

The State Government issued an order and formed a separate municipal council for the two villages ahead of the election on September 11, 2024. Since it was not possible to set up the civic body immediately, a committee headed by the Divisional Commissioner was formed to overlook the development roadmap of the villages. All basic amenities set up in the villages will be handed over in a phased manner in the next six months.

The municipal council administration sought details about properties possessed by the then gram panchayats such as buildings, markets, shops, etc.

A demand was also made to hand over areas in the two villages covered by civic amenities. Thus, details were collected about 116 properties belonging to the gram panchayats and 13 reserved plots acquired. The PMC has set up citizens facilitation centres on some service sector plots.

The Standing Committee approved handing over of the properties acquired after the merger to the municipal council in the first phase. Land acquired for the service sector and roads will be transferred in the second phase while properties, on which citizens facilitation centres have been set up, will be given in the third phase.
