Pune: He elopes with his lover’s friend, gets married with her, lands at police station

Pune: Youths of marriageable age are facing psychological issues across Maharashtra, particularly in rural areas, as they are not getting married due to several factors.

In this backdrop, a youth from a village in Kolhapur district working in Pune lured a young woman from Mumbai. He was having an affair with her. He also had physical relations with her. Later, he lured his lover’s friend, eloped and married her.

Omkar Uttam Pradhan (22), who hails from Kolhapur district and works in Pune, befriended a young woman on social media and had physical relations with her promising to marry with her. However, he abandoned her and eloped with her friend and married her.

Learning about his marriage, his first girlfriend approached the Kodoli Police and the newly married man landed at the police station.

Omkar’s background

Omkar Pradhan has passed the HSC exam. He left his village three years ago and came to Pune. He started working in a private firm. Omkar befriended the young woman from Mumbai on Instagram. Later, they fell in love. He promised to marry her. He sought time from her to get permission of his relatives and had physical relations with her at Panhala Fort, Hadapsar and elsewhere in Pune.

The young woman became pregnant. He asked her to abort by giving pills. Meanwhile, he fell in love with her friend and eloped with her a week ago and got married. His earlier girlfriend came to know about this and approached the police.

Relatives of the trio are half-literate. They came to the police station after learning about the love triangle and were shocked.
