Pune: Horses accompanying Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession bow before Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandir (Video)

Pune: The two Manache Ashwa (honoured horses) accompanying the Santshreshth Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession on Tuesday (June 17) bowed before the Hindustan’s First Ganpati Mandal Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandir in the city. An ‘Aarti’ was performed amidst many devotees and dignitaries.
The horses belong to Shrimant Shitole Sarkar from Ankali (Karnataka). They trot all the way from Ankali to Alandi to take part in the annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage. They have an honoured place in the Santshreshth Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession.
The Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession will start from temple town Alandi to Pandharpur on Thursday (June 19). This is a glorious tradition of the Warkari sect since 1832. The horse that leads the procession is right in front of the palanquin of Santshreshth Dnyaneshwar Maharaj while a rider carries the Jaripatka (the traditional flag of Maharashtra) on another horse. Thus, the two horses take part in the Palkhi Sohala. On Tuesday, the horses bowed before Shri Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati.

The Shitoles from Ankali have been getting the honour of joining the procession, along with their horses. Shrimant Urjitsinh Raje Shitole Sarkar and Shrimant Mahadji Raje Shitole Sarkar were felicitated by the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Trust. Trust President Sanjeev Javale, other trustees, devotees and mandal workers were present.
