Pune: Illegal activities and malpractices will not be tolerated: Amitesh Kumar

‘Transparent and honest policing expected from police officers’
Pune: Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar has issued a warning to all police officers during the Annual Conference of Police Commissionerate. He said, “Transparent and honest policing is expected from police officers. I will not tolerate illegal activities within the limits of their offices. If history-sheeters continue to commit offences, officers concerned will have to be transferred. Only those officials who achieve the given target will be retained at their current posting.”
The Commissioner of Police was replying to a query that police officials are frequently transferred. A transferred official has to spend a lot of time in understanding the limits and work at the new posting, which adversely affects his work and citizens suffer.
CP Kumar said, “The Lok Sabha and State Assembly polls took place last year. If a police official is posted in his home district for two years, he has to be shifted as per the ECI rules. Some officials have come back to their home district. Therefore, many transfers have been made.
“Only those officials who achieve the given targets will not be transferred. Police officials, within whose jurisdiction illegal activities, malpractices continue, will have to be shifted. Honest and transparent policing is expected from police officers.” This was revealed by the CP during a press meet.
