This is what happened with two families in Lonavala recently. Five people from these families lost lives when they were caught in a strong water current and were washed away. Among the dead were four children and a woman. They were residents of Pune. The Ansaris and the Sayyads visited the waterfall behind the Bhushi Dam. It is known as Railway Waterfall.
IMD Pune chief KS Hosalikar has shared a video clip that demonstrates the technique to save oneself in such a situation. He said that if a water current suddenly rises then people should stand behind each other by holding each other’s shoulders firmly and not stand facing the current flow or showing one’s back to it. Hosalikar explained this in a tweet and stated: ‘This technique was taught to us in China during a training’.
