Pune / Baramati: State Minister Chhagan Bhujabal attacked the opposition parties over the Maratha reservations issue. He said, “The Maratha quota issue is making headlines. Some people are trying to instigate riots. We are of the opinion that the Maratha community should get a quota. We will follow the path shown by Shahu, Phule and Dr Ambedkar. However, we are of the view that injustice should not be done to those who have already got reservations.”

Bhujbal was speaking at a state-wide get-together of the NCP (AP) held here on Sunday.

The Minister said, “The government called a meeting recently at the Sahyadri guesthouse to solve the issue. All-party leaders should guide and the issue could be solved. We should try to do justice to all. Hence, the opposition leaders should have attended the meeting.

“I spoke to Vijay Wadettiwar and Jitendra Awhad. I asked Awhad to request Sharad Pawar to attend the meeting. He should have come being a senior leader because Pawar Saheb implemented the Mandal Commission recommendations okayed by the then PM VP Singh. We have always hailed and thanked Pawar Saheb for this. He should have come.

“He boycotted the meeting. You may be upset with Ajit Pawar and Chhagan Bhujbal. But what wrong has OBCs done to you? The opposition wants to see Maharashtra burn. We should come together to solve issues. I hope good sense prevails.

“Various constituents of society will get Rs 1 lakh crore. We have entrusted Ajit Pawar with the responsibility. We are sure that he would carry it out successfully. All those who voted for Sunetra Pawar as well as Supriya Sule should fill the form. We will not differentiate. All are Ajit Pawar’s sisters.”
