Pune: Inmate Died of Brain Haemorrhage While Receiving Treatment at Sassoon Hospital
Pune : The accused, who has been arrested in a theft case, died of brain haemorrhage while taking treatment at the Sassoon Hospital. The deceased accused has been identified as Sachin Ashok Gaikwad (age 47, a resident of Mundhwa).
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sambhaji Kadam, informed that in regard to the theft case of August 7, Parvati police arrested two accused, Sachin Ashok Gaikwad and Manohar Ramesh Mane. After a medical examination, they were both arrested in the Vishrambaug Police jail.
The next day, when they were produced in court, the court granted them police custody until August 10. Accordingly, both were kept in Vishrambaug police custody.
On the morning of August 9, around 6 a.m., Sachin Gaikwad started feeling dizzy. So he was immediately taken to Sassoon Hospital in an ambulance. He was admitted to the ICU and started treatment there. He was operated on at 12:30 p.m. after it was found that he was suffering from bleeding in the brain. As per the reports, Sachin had this problem before, and his relatives are aware of it.
Sachin was granted judicial custody after the expiry of police custody. He died at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital. As the accused died while in custody, the investigation of the case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
