Pune: Lonikand Police Arrest Thief from Yerawada in Mangalsutra Snatching Case

The Lonikand police have arrested a thief who snatched a gold mangalsutra from a woman’s neck in a ladies’ shop under the pretext of buying a blouse piece and a ring. The arrested accused has been identified as Rohan Satish Jadhav (age 28, a resident of Dwarka Building, Harpale Nagar, Fursungi Road, Hadapsar).
In this regard, a 35-year-old woman from Pimpri Sandas had filed a complaint at the Lonikand police station.
On November 28, while the complainant was in the Trishna Ladies Shop in Pimpri Sandas, the accused, Rohan Jadhav, came there on the pretext of buying a blouse piece and a ring. While the complainant was showing him the items, he suddenly came to the counter and snatched the gold mangalsutra worth Rs 40,000 from the plaintiff’s neck and stole it.
Subsequently, the plaintiff lodged a police complaint at the Lonikand police station. After that, the assistant police inspector, Ravindra Godse, and police amaldar examined a total of 80 to 100 CCTV footages from Pimpri Sandas, Bhima Koregaon, Lonikand, Wagholi, Avhalwadi, Manjari, Hadapsar, Fursungi, Magarpatta, Ghorpadi, Kalyani Nagar, and Yerawada areas on the escape route of the accused.
Based on the description of the suspected accused in these CCTV footages and taking information about the accused from the informant, police arrested Rohan Jadhav with a motorcycle in the Commerce Zone in the Yerawada area. After his detention, the accused confessed to theft in the ladies shop. In the further investigation, police seized goods worth Rs 1 lakh 78 thousand from him.
This action was taken by the team of Senior Police Inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar, Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Godse, Police Amaldar Sagar Jagtap, Kailas Salunke, Ajit Farande, Pandurang Mane, Malhari Sapure, Sainath Rokde, Amol Dhone, Shubham Chinke, and Sudhir Shivale under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane.
