Pune: Mahalunge MIDC Police Crack 26-Tola Gold Theft Case: Nab Thief After 4-Month Hunt Using T-Shirt and Walking Style

In a commendable act, the police have arrested a thief who had stolen 26 tolas of gold jewellery from the house on the basis of the thief’s T-shirt and his walking style after four months of tireless efforts. Further, the police have also arrested a buyer of the jewellery from a village on the Nepal border in Bihar.
The arrested thief has been identified as Tullukumar Ramuraut (age 25, a resident of Pawar Vasti, Chikhali, and an original resident of Sarata, Dhaka, Bihar). Further, the name of the individual who bought jewellery from him is Baleshwar Prasad Nandlal Sah (age 45, a resident of Bakhri Khajuri, Dhaka, District Motihari, Bihar).
The detailed information in this regard is that in the month of September last year, Arvind Kasale, a resident of Kuruli village in Khed Taluka, had gone out of his house for some work along with his family. At that time, the accused stole 26 tolas of gold jewellery from his house. After learning of the incident, Kasale immediately lodged a complaint at the police station and requested them to solve the case at the earliest.
In this case, Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey and Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Shivaji Pawar personally gave attention and instructed police officials to solve the case urgently. However, in spite of using all the resources, police were not able to find the accused. Meanwhile, police examined CCTV footage from the plaintiff’s house and started an investigation; however, they were facing a lot of difficulties in identifying the accused.
After that, police closely studied the physical appearance of the accused and his walking style, and on the basis of that, Assistant Police Inspector Kalyan Ghadge and the Police Amaldar were searching for the accused in different areas. On January 14, 2025, when Police Amaldar Ganesh Gaikwad was returning to work from the parade, he found a suspicious individual in the Spine Road area.
After that, the police detained him and investigated. In the police investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and informed them that he had sold the jewellery in his native village in Bihar. Accordingly, the police went to the accused’s hometown and arrested the jewellery buyer. In the action, police seized 18 tolas of jewellery worth Rs 26 lakh from the accused.
This action was taken by the team of Senior Police Inspector Nitin Gite of Mahalunge Police Station, Police Inspector (Crime) Pravin Kamble, Assistant Police Inspector Kalyan Ghadge, Police Amaldar Raju Konkeri, Yuvraj Birajdar, Tanaji Gade, Vitthal Wadekar, Amol Borate, Kishor Sangle, Santosh Kale, Ganesh Gaikwad, Shivaji Lokhande, Santosh Waikar, Rajendra Khedkar, Amol Mate, Mangesh Kadam, Sharad Khaire, Rajesh Giri and Assistant Faujdar Raju Jadhav under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Police Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Police Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doifode, Dr. Shivaji Pawar, and Assistant Police Commissioner Rajendrasinh Gaur.
