Pune: A doubt was raised that the flyover work at Vishrantwadi Chowk would put a hurdle in the Metro project. However, MahaMetro has clarified that enough space would be available to build Metro pillars. Therefore, there would be no hurdle of the flyover and the subway works.

The civic body is building a flyover and a subway to ease congestion at Mukundrao Ambedkar Chowk in Vishrantwadi. The ground-breaking ceremony of the works was performed before the Lok Sabha elections. A proposed Metro route will also pass through the chowk.

An objection was raised by former Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende and former corporator Anil Tingre that space would not be left for the Metro project due the flyover and subway works. Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol recently held a meeting, where questions were raised about the flyover. Mohol asked to stay the work and clarify the objections raised.

The PMC’s Project Department then sent the plans of flyover and subway to MahaMetro to verify. Later, a meeting of both agencies was held where it was clarified that the civic works would not be a hurdle in the Metro work. Enough space would be available at the chowk for Metro pillars.
