Pune: Man Arrested at Midnight for Leaking Obscene Videos of Woman After Broken Engagement

Pune: In a shocking incident, a man leaked obscene videos of a woman after their engagement was called off. The accused secretly recorded intimate moments without the woman’s knowledge and later attempted to blackmail her by sending these clips to a friend. Prompt intervention by social activists led Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma to take swift action. The Ambegaon police arrested the accused at midnight.
The accused has been identified as Akshay Pradeep Gawde (30), a resident of Sai Sankalp Building, Tupe Vasti, Sadesatara Nali Road, Hadapsar. A 27-year-old woman lodged a complaint against him at Ambegaon Police Station.
According to police reports, Gawde was in a relationship with the complainant and had promised to marry her. He entered into a physical relationship under the pretext of marriage and secretly recorded explicit videos and photos. After breaking off the engagement, he began blackmailing the woman and even sent the obscene content to his friend via WhatsApp.
The woman approached the Women’s Commission and shared her ordeal with social activist Sangeeta Tiwari, stating she was on the verge of suicide. Tiwari encouraged her and brought the matter to the attention of senior police officials.
Acting on the complaint, Senior Police Inspector Sharad Jine, Inspector (Crime) Gajanan Chormule, and API Bhojling Dodmise took immediate action. Gawde was arrested around midnight and his mobile phone and laptop were seized. Further investigation is underway.
