Notably, around 764 employees and officers from six departments of the Pune Municipal Corporation, such as the municipal solid waste, electricity, roads, sky signs, encroachment, and garden departments, took to the streets and participated in this cleanliness drive.

The first phase of the cleanliness drive was carried out by the Municipal Corporation from Alankar Chowk to Police Commissionerate Chowk, Bundgarden Water Supply Chowk to Jahangir Chowk, and from Ruby Hall Hospital to City Point Chowk. With this, the cleanliness drive, which will be implemented zone-wise in the city, has formally begun.

On the first day of the campaign, 6 tonnes of debris were collected in ward number 20 and 10 tonnes in ward number 21. 24 tonnes of garbage, including wet, dry, and garden waste, were collected from both the wards. Along with this, abandoned and damaged vehicles, handcarts obstructing traffic, iron stalls, and other obstructing things were removed from the road.

Further, 35 illegally erected advertisement boards and 123 boards were removed. Dangerous branches of 42 trees were cut on both sides from Bundgarden to the Regional Transport Office. At this time, the Road Department also repaired 130 square meters of road and 25 square meters of footpath.

With the objective of cleaning the city, the Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, instructed employees of important departments of the municipality to take to the streets together and on the same day, which will significantly help in the cleanliness of the city. Accordingly, this drive has been started. This drive will continue in Zone One from December 9 to 14.
