Pune: The delayed recruitment process of 100 junior engineers in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will resume soon. The recruitment will start as the State Government has decided to give an opportunity to Maratha candidates holding the Kunbi caste certificate to apply through the OBC category. Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj BP has revealed this.

The PMC started the recruitment of 100 junior engineers before the Lok Sabha elections. An advertisement was also published in this regard. Applications were sought by candidates. Earlier, a decision was not made regarding Maratha candidates holding the Kunbi caste certificate applying through the OBC category.

As the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly elections are over, the recruitment processes held back earlier have now been started. The PMC has also discussed with IPBS the holding of the recruitment test for engineers.

Giving details about this, Prithviraj BP said, “The State Government order has stated that the Maratha candidates holding the Kunbi caste certificate can be recruited through the OBC category. Moreover, an order has also been issued to recruit candidates through the Economically Backward Class (EBC) category.

“In this backdrop, we will publish an advertisement to recruit engineers again. We will also have to decide about the applications and fees received earlier. We will complete the technical process by January 15 and then publish the recruitment advertisement.”
