Pune: Nanded City Police Nab Four Accused for Targeting LGBTQ Victims Exploiting Social Media Contact

Pune :
A shocking case has come to light from Pune’s Nanded City area, where a syndicate of a few young individuals was taking people to a deserted place by falsely stating urgent medical emergencies at home and were assaulting and robbing them. In this regard, the Nanded City police laid a trap and arrested four individuals, including three minors. The arrested individual has been identified as Bharat Kisan Dhindle (age 18, a resident of Muktai Heights, Sangle Ghat, Dhayari).
Notably, the police have found a new way of robbery. As per the information, the young individuals of the group connect with gay people on the ‘Grindr’ app, a social networking app for LGBTQ people, and then ask people to meet them. After that, they take these people to a deserted place by pretending some urgency. Suddenly, their other accomplices come to the location; they unanimously assault and rob people by brandishing weapons.
Further, they also take important valuables from these people, such as jewellery and phones, and assault them after transferring their bank income to their account. As these individuals often did not lodge a police complaint, fearing defamation, this criminal activity was going on rampantly.
This entire incident took place on January 13, in the evening, behind DSK World School, and was finally revealed after a 32-year-old hotelier lodged a complaint regarding it at Nanded City police station. Accordingly, police arrested four individuals, including three minors.
As per the information, the victim hotelier downloaded the ‘Grindr’ app a few days ago, where he met one of the accused individuals on the app. After a few contacts, both people started chatting with each other, and on January 13, this accused individual asked the plaintiff to come near the archway at DSK World School. While both of them were talking, suddenly, other accomplices of the accused came there, and they started assaulting and abusing the plaintiff.
They forcibly started taking his jewellery, his mobile phone, and money from him. After the plaintiff opposed, they forcibly took away his mobile and jewellery from him by brandishing weapons. The accused themselves transferred 5 thousand rupees from the plaintiff’s PhonePe app by asking for his passwords. The accused looted the plaintiff for Rs 24,500 in total.
After messages of such instances went viral on social media, Nanded City police laid a trap in the area. After that, Police Amaldar Purushottam Gunla and Akshay Jadhav laid a trap in the area and detained the accused.
This action was taken by the team of Senior Police Inspector Atul Bhos of Nanded City Police Station, Police Sub-Inspector Shivaji Bunage, Police Amaldar Purushottam Gunla, Yogesh Zende, Raju Vengre, Akshay Jadhav, Prashant Kakade, and Mohan Misal under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam, and Assistant Police Commissioner Bapursaheb Pathare.
