Pune: NCP (AP) City Unit President Deepak Mankar quits post (Videos)
Pune: NCP (AP) City Unit President Deepak Mankar on Wednesday said that he resigned from his post and would hand over his resignation to party President Ajit Pawar by Saturday. Him not being named by party President Ajit Pawar to the Legislative Council was the immediate reason behind his decision.
He said, “Ajitdada did not name me as an MLC. He did not even tell me that my name could not be considered. He took me for granted. I am the president of Pune City NCP (AP). I will quit the post by Saturday. However, I will continue to support Ajitdada as the party worker.”
Three persons from the NCP (AP) were supposed to be named by the Governor to the State Legislative Council. All office-bearers from Pune had demanded that Deepak Mankar should be named as an MLC. Therefore, the office-bearers were not happy with the leadership. They collectively resigned from their posts and submitted a petition to DyCM Ajit Pawar.
Mankar said, “I have been working for the party since 2012. I am the President of the City Unit. I had demanded that one seat should be given to Pune. Ajitdada took the responsibility. He never breaks promises. However, Pankaj Bhujbal and Idris Naikawadi were named MLCs by the party leadership.
“A party MLC from Pune would have strengthened party workers. Didn’t I have merit? What is the reason behind rejecting my name? I have done good work in Sharad Pawar’s fortress. I have worked without expecting any monetary returns. I do not have the habit of bootlicking. Dada knows this. I am quitting now. I will continue to be a worker of the party. He should have, at least, told me that the opportunity could not be given.”
‘Party worker should get justice’
Mankar said, “When will a party worker in active politics get justice? If you are giving everything to Bhujbal Saheb, what will happen to us? We worked for (Murlidhar) Mohol. We mobilised workers and campaigned for him. I will hand over my resignation to Dada by Saturday. I will support Dada till my last breath. I will continue to be a party worker.”
Mankar targets Rupali Chakankar
Deepak Mankar said, “The party organisation runs through workers. There should be no discrimination among workers. Another woman should be appointed as the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission. There are more efficient women than Rupali Chakankar in Maharashtra.”
