Pune: NCP (AP) former corporators warn Ajit Pawar of leaving the party
Pune / Pimpri: NCP (AP) former corporators have warned their leader and DyCM Ajit Pawar that they would quit the party and join the opposition if he does not take the Chinchwad Assembly seat, currently held by the BJP, during the State Assembly elections.
While Ajit Pawar is trying to get more seats allotted, his followers are putting pressure on him to get particular seats. This is likely to put Pawar in a tight spot in the Maha Yuti.
The Chinchwad segment has been allotted to the BJP as it is currently held by them. Now, Ajit Pawar’s staunch supporters have demanded that he should take the seat from the BJP. They are all former corporators. They claimed that they are a group of 25 former corporators, including former BJP corporators. They have warned Ajit Pawar that if a decision is not made about the Chinchwad seat within the next 4-5 days, they will either join the NCP (SP) or the Shiv Sena (UBT). They have resolved that they would not campaign for the BJP. In short, they have decided to quit the party.
NCP (AP) stakes claim on Bhosari, Chinchwad
The Pimpri-Chinchwad unit of NCP (AP) has passed a resolution to take Bhosari and Chinchwad seats for the party. They have warned that if the BJP decides not to campaign for NCP (AP) candidates, they would also not campaign for BJP candidates in Bhosari and Chinchwad. MLA Anna Bansode was present in the meeting.
BJP office-bearers oppose NCP (AP)
The BJP City Unit has passed a resolution that they will not campaign for the NCP (AP) candidate in Pimpri. Thus, they have directly opposed sitting MLA Anna Bansode. While passing the resolution, they insisted that they did not get their party’s candidate during the Lok Sabha poll but they wanted their own candidate for the State poll.
The office-bearers, along with BJP MLCs Uma Khapre and Amit Gorkhe, opposed the NCP (AP). They said that they would not campaign for the ‘clock’ symbol as the NCP (AP) did not campaign for the Maha Yuti candidate during the Lok Sabha election.
