Pune: DyCM Ajit Pawar announced his resolve that he will see to it that contractors do not enter politics. He was speaking at a Shetkari Melava, a farmers’ gathering, at Shirashne in Baramati taluka. The farmers supported his stance with a big applause.
He said, “People get upset when a contractor occupies a position via politics. They blame us for this. This also becomes a hurdle for government officials to ensure quality work. I cannot tolerate this double disadvantage. I became an MLA for eight consecutive terms. I will join the House in the future also. But I will not take a sigh of relief till the doors of politics are closed for contractors.”
Shree Swami Samarth Doodh Utpadak Sanstha has built a new milk bulk cooler at Shirashne. Sanstha Head Santosh Jadhav took lead in setting up the facility. Pawar was speaking after the inauguration of the bulk cooler.
Ajit Pawar underlined that people do not like contractors joining politics. “Many contractors from Baramati and from across the State want to become office-bearers through politics. Their number has grown. I realised during the Lok Sabha and State Polls that people disapprove of this. Those who want to join politics should not become contractors,” he said.
“If someone tries to do such things, an opportunity will be given to honest workers from villages. Consequently, officials will also be able to do quality work. This will also help to improve the party image among the people. Those who worked well in the booth committees of the NCP (AP) will be consulted in the development process.”
‘Stop illegal activities, or else…’
Pawar said, “The koyta gang is raising its ugly head again in Baramati. A minor boy recently committed a serious offence at Pandare. Citizens are harassed due to such illegal activities. If such offences occur again within any police station limits, the Police Inspector (PI) concerned will face consequences. The government has provided quarters, vehicles, spacious offices to the police. In this backdrop, the officials concerned only pretend to work. They should improve themselves.”
