Pune : Notorious Criminal Among Three Held; Police Seize 4 Country-Made Pistols and 5 Live Cartridges

Pune: The Kalepadal Police have arrested a habitual offender and two accomplices who were roaming with firearms brought from Madhya Pradesh, fearing an attack from a rival gang. The police seized four country-made pistols and five live cartridges from their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Asif Sabirkha Teli (21, resident of Sayyednagar, Hadapsar), Yash Subhash Madane (20, resident of Bhimratnagar, Kasba, Baramati) and Prathamesh Sandeep Londhe (24, resident of Vadgaon Nimbalkar, Nira Road, Baramati). Prathamesh Londhe already faces a murder charge, while Yash Madane has an assault case registered against him. Asif Teli has a case filed under the Arms Act.

Ahead of the upcoming elections, the Police Commissioner had instructed all units to conduct combing operations to crack down on illegal activities and armed criminals. During patrolling, officers Shahid Shaikh and Dawood Sayyed received information that wanted criminal Asif Shaikh and two associates were waiting near Mohammadwadi Palkhi Road and were suspected to be carrying weapons.

When the police team reached the spot, they surrounded the trio and detained them. A search revealed four pistols and five live cartridges worth ₹2.42 lakh. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Kalepadal Police Station.

During interrogation, the accused admitted they procured the weapons from Madhya Pradesh due to fear of retaliation from a rival gang. The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, ACP Dhanyakumar Godse, and senior officers including PI Mansing Patil and PI Amar Kalange, along with the police team.
