Pune: One booked under Atrocity Act for lodging false complaint to harass the complainant

Pune: The Uttam Nagar police registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by an office-bearer of a political party under the Atrocity Act.

The accused reportedly lodged a false complaint to frame the complainant and mentally harassed him.

Kunal Sunil Sarvade (34), a resident of Haveli taluka, lodged a complaint. A case has been registered against Balasaheb Babanrao Barate (52), a resident of Karve Nagar, under the Atrocity Act.

According to the police, Barate had lodged an NOC against Sarvade at the Uttam Nagar Police Station. The complaint stated that the earlier complaint lodged by the accused was completely false and caused harassment. It was lodged with the intention that the police would act. The complainant was forced to visit the police station, which caused agony to him. Barate purposely lodged the complaint to harass and defame the complainant, who belongs to the Scheduled Castes.
