Pune: Orchid School Receives Show Cause Notice from Education Department for Unauthorised Operations; Faces Daily Rs 10,000 Fine
Pune : The Orchid International School in Chinchwad has come under scrutiny after the education department issued a daily penalty notice of Rs 10,000 against the institution. Since 2022, the school has been operating without the necessary government approval, prompting the municipal primary education department to act on a complaint they received. According to government regulations, schools operating without authorisation are subject to severe penalties.
In response to the complaint, the education department has issued a show-cause notice to the school management, demanding an explanation for the unauthorised operations. The school now faces the possibility of a substantial financial burden if they fail to address the issue promptly.
The municipal corporation’s Primary Education Department is also receiving directives from higher education authorities, including the Commissioner of Education and the Director of Education. These directives involve potential actions against unauthorised schools, such as the closing of schools as per the provisions of the Right to Education Act, penal action, lodging of an FIR as necessary, the financial burden of a fine levied on 7/12 of the income of the school, the publication of news about the school being unauthorised, and the proper adjustment of other schools.
Whether Orchid International School will comply with the penalty remains to be seen.
