Pune: PMC Launches Search Operation into Waste Processing Plant Supplying Plastic to Industry in Daund

Pune: The solid waste department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started the search operation of the waste processing plant of Ramtekdi, which has supplied the plastic to the industrial company situated in the village of Deulgaon Gada in Daund taluka. The Additional Commissioner of the PMC has given orders in this regard.

A few days ago, villagers caught the truck of Lalwani Transport Company (Truck No. MH 12 MV 9299) carrying plastic and rags separated from garbage to light the company’s boiler at Deulgaon Gada near Yawat and handed it over to the Yawat police. In this regard, the Yawat police have registered a case under the Environment Protection Act and started an investigation.

During the investigation in this case, the truck driver, who has been booked, stated in his statement that he brought this plastic waste from the municipal waste processing plant in the Ramtekdi area. After huge media reports about the incident, the municipal administration has taken notice of it and ordered the finding of the waste processing plant.

On this, the head of the solid waste department, Sandeep Kadam, said that notices have been issued to all the waste processing plants at Ramtekdi and information has been sought from them regarding the related truck. He also assured that the correct action will be taken against the waste processing plant through which this plastic waste has gone.

The Additional Commissioner of PMC, Prithviraj B.P., said that there will be no problem in finding out about the plant. “The number of the truck seized by the rural police has been obtained, and it will be known through which waste processing plant it has passed, as all processing plants now have CCTV cameras.” He also said that on this occasion, necessary action will be taken by checking the records of waste transportation and CCTV footage of all the waste processing plants.
