Pune Police Arrest Fugitive in MCOCA Crime from Raichur District in Karnataka
Pune:
In August 2024, a gang of a few individuals attacked and attempted to murder a youth on Tadiwala Road. In that case, police had taken action against a gang under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). But one of the accused in that case had been on the run since August. Finally, the police have successfully apprehended that accused from Raichur district in Karnataka.
The arrested accused has been identified as Saurabh Timappa Dhangar (age 24, a resident of Tadiwala Road). On August 18, 2024, Ganesh Sanjay Pol (age 29) was riding home on a two-wheeler with his son Ronik at around 6:45 p.m. At that time, Saurabh Dhangar, Akash Pandit, and Sahil Waghmare stopped him at Maruti Mandir Chowk on Tadiwala Road and threatened to kill him. Further, they also assaulted him with a fighter, bamboo sticks, hands, kicks, and stones, due to which Pol was seriously injured.
In this case, the Bundgarden police had registered a case of attempted murder. Since then, Saurabh Dhangar had been absconding from the police arrest. The police had taken action against him under the MCOCA Act. Recently, Police Sub-Inspector Swapnil Lohar, Police Ammaldar Dnyaneshwar Bade, and Manoj Bhokare received information from their informant that Dhangar was hiding in the Raichur district in Karnataka. Accordingly, a police team went there and arrested Dhangar.
This action was taken by the team of Police Sub-Inspector Swapnil Lohar, Police Ammaldar Dnyaneshwar Bade, and Manoj Bhokare under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, Assistant Police Commissioner Deepak Nikam, Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad, and Crime Inspector Sampatrao Raut.
