Pune Police issue ‘alert’ to airports about Karan Bothra involved in Rs 26 crore fraud case
Pune: The Pune Police have issued an ‘alert’ to all airports in the country about Karan Bothra, resident of Salisbury Park, who is the main accused in a Rs 26 crore fraud case.
He cheated a city-based developer by inducing him to invest in a steel and other metal business.
The alert has been issued to stop Bothra from escaping abroad. An offence was registered against Bothra at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station last week. Developer Navin Suresh Agarwal lodged a complaint in this regard.
According to IO API Dattatraya Waghmare, Karan Bothra has been summoned for an inquiry into the 26 crore fraud case. He told us that he was out of station and would visit the police in a couple of days. An alert has been issued to all airports to stop him from escaping to other countries.
The complainant runs Purple Construction Pvt Ltd. He got to know Bothra through business. Bothra told Agarwal that he could earn big profit by investing in a steel and other metal business. He induced Agarwal to invest money from time to time. He also undersigned a declaration-cum-undertaking that he would pay profit and the principal amount by cheque. However, he did not pay Agarwal a single penny and cheated him.
