Pune Police Issues Key Orders to Ensure Peaceful Assembly Elections Across 11 Constituencies in Pune

In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Pune City Police Commissionerate, which oversees 11 assembly constituencies, has implemented strict measures to maintain law and order during the election period. Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma has issued a series of directives in line with the election code of conduct.

The Pune City Police Commissionerate covers the constituencies of Shirur, Purandar, Bhor, Vadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Hadapsar, Pune Cantonment, and Kasba. Sharma’s orders are aimed at ensuring that the elections proceed smoothly and without any disruptions to public peace.

The following key guidelines have been outlined:

  1. Prior permission must be obtained from the concerned police station for the location and time of any public meetings.
  2. Police permission is also mandatory for organising any form of procession during the election period.
  3. Use of loudspeakers is strictly prohibited between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  4. Loudspeakers must not be used from moving vehicles; they can only be used after the vehicle has come to a stop.
  5. A valid license is required for using loudspeakers.
  6. The volume of loudspeakers must adhere to prescribed decibel levels.
  7. Loudspeakers must not be used within the premises of schools, colleges, or hospitals.
  8. No more than 10 vehicles are allowed in a campaign convoy, and there must be a 200-meter or 15-minute gap between two convoys.
  9. The police will determine the timing and routes for processions to ensure smooth movement and public safety.
  10. Police officers will monitor the timing and limit of loudspeakers in public areas, especially during entertainment events or public meetings.
  11. Police officers will also control the place, date, and time of any public meetings related to campaign activities.

These orders will remain in effect from today until November 25, 2024.
