Pune Police Official Suspended for Allegedly Assaulting PMP Bus Driver
Pune: After the video of a Pune police official beating the PMP bus driver for allegedly overtaking his bike went viral and received much criticism from the people, the police department has taken strict action against the concerned police officer. The Police Deputy Commissioner, Rohidas Pawar, has ordered the suspension of the police official in this regard.
As per the information, the police constable, Rahul Ashok Waghmare, is working in the motor transport department. A few days ago, Waghmare was returning to his home after completing his night shift. When he arrived at the Band Garden area near Wadia College, he tried to overtake a PMP bus. However, as the road repair work continued on the road, PMP driver Bhagwat Torne drove the bus from the other side.
In this, Waghmare was shortly saved. Enraged by the incident, Waghmare put his bike ahead of the PMP bus and assaulted the driver by getting into the bus. Shortly after, this video went viral on social media, which drew much criticism from the public. People demanded strict action against the arrogant police officer who was seen misusing his power of uniform.
Accordingly, Waghmare was suspended by the department for maligning the image of the police department and because of his careless behaviour. According to the orders, he has been dismissed from the service as of July 21.
