Pune Police Stopped Maratha Kranti Morcha Coordinators from Meeting Amit Shah in Pune, Detained Outside the Hotel

Pune :
Over 70 days have passed since the brutal murder of Beed village Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh took place. However, even after 70 days since the incident, the absconding accused in this case have not been arrested so far. In demand of their arrest, various organisations are organising statewide agitations.
Meanwhile, today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Pune for the 27th Western Divisional Council meeting at The Westin Hotel in Koregaon Park. Seizing the opportunity, coordinators of the Maratha Kranti Morcha attempted to meet him to raise concerns about the case. However, police prevented them from entering the venue and detained them on the spot.
The Maratha Kranti Morcha coordinators Sachin Adekar and Rekha Konde alleged that the accused in the Beed Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case are being given VIP treatment in the prison. For the demand that these accused should not be given VIP treatment in the prison and the immediate arrest of other absconding accused in this case, these coordinators wanted to meet Murlidhar Mohol and Amit Shah. In this regard, they had made a formal request to Pune Police.
However, when Adekar and Konde attempted to go inside the Westin Hotel where Amit Shah was presiding the meeting of 27th Western Divisional Council, the police detained both of them outside the hotel. At this time, these coordinators of Maratha Kranti Morcha became aggressive and staged a protest outside the hotel.
Coordinators said, “Walmik Karad and the other accused arrested in the murder case of Beed Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh are getting VIP treatment in the prison. Also, police are not doing proper investigation in this case. Therefore, to demand a fair investigation by police and the immediate arrest of the other absconding accused, we were meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. However, police did not allow us to go inside the hotel.”
At this time, coordinators also alleged that police did not allow them to speak with media reporters. They said that Maratha Kranti Morcha would organise a big statewide agitation in this case in the coming time.
