Pune: Popular singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher to install Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati idol
Grand procession planned for Bappa
Pune: Hindustan’s first Ganpati mandal Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Trust’s Ganesh idol will be installed by popular singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher at 12.30 pm on Saturday (September 7). The installation will follow a grand procession amidst beating of Dhol-Tasha to welcome the elephant-headed god.
Mandal Celebration Chief and Trustee Punit Balan revealed this on Thursday (September 5).
He said, “Bappa’s Aarti will be performed at 8.10 am on Ganesh Chaturthi (installation) day. A grand procession will begin. Initially, traditional games such as Lathi-Kathi will be demonstrated and conches will be blown. Then seven Dhol-Tasha pathaks will salute in front of Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Bhavan. Dhol-Tasha Pathaks (troupes), including Shivmudra, Vadyavrund, Manvandana, Shree, NuMaVi, Kalawant and Shriram, will participate in the grand procession. Thus, Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Trust Bappa will arrive with much fanfare.
“For the first time in 132 years, the procession chariot (Rath) will not be pulled by a pair of bullocks. Instead, mandal workers will pull the Rath. On the auspicious occasion, popular singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher will install the Ganesh idol at 12.30 pm on Saturday. Later, other programmes will follow,” said Punit Balan.
