Pune Records Coldest Minimum Temperature at 11 Degrees on November 19
Pune:
Punekars are experiencing a significant dip in temperatures as the city recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Maharashtra today at 11 degrees Celsius. The drop in mercury marks a sudden onset of cold weather over the past two days.
On Monday, Dhule had recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 11 degrees Celsius. However, Pune overtook it today, with the (NDA) area registering 11.6 degrees Celsius and Shivajinagar at 12.9 degrees.
Unlike during the Diwali festivities, when the weather was not that minimum, the cold has gradually intensified in Pune. Meteorologists predict that the minimum temperature could dip further over the next two days as cold northern winds sweep across Maharashtra.
With the rainy spell in Maharashtra now subsiding, the inflow of cold winds from the north has caused a noticeable drop in temperatures. According to the Meteorological Department, the state could witness a further decrease of 2 to 3 degrees in minimum temperatures starting today.
Currently, a cyclonic circulation over the Comorin region in southern India is bringing rain to southern states, while clear skies in northern India are amplifying the cold conditions.
