Pune: Registration of two Sassoon Hospital doctors to be cancelled for abandoning a destitute patient at remote location

Pune: The Inquiry Committee probing the abandoning of a destitute patient from the Sassoon Hospital recommended the cancellation of registration of the two guilty doctors in the Indian Medical Association and cancellation of an academic term of both doctors.

These recommendations have been made to the Commissioner of Medical Education.

The matter was exposed by Ritesh Gaikwad and social worker Dadasaheb Gaikwad recently. A three-tier committee was appointed to inquire into it. It submitted its report.

It also recommended rustication of both the doctors from the hostel for six months. Sassoon Hospital Dean Dr Eknath Pawar said, “The Inquiry Committee probing the abandoning of a destitute patient at a remote place has submitted its report. A decision will be made on its recommendations.”
