Pune: Relatives break down after seeing body of 11-month-old baby killed by leopard

Pune: In an attack by a leopard, an 11-month-old baby was picked and killed by the wild animal near Dahitane village in Daund taluka on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Anvit Dhula Bhise. The incident took place at a shepherds’ camp near sugarcane fields at a hamlet. The Forest Department searched for the child’s body for 31 hours and fount it in a sugarcane field.
According to the details received, the big cat dragged the baby in the wee hours of Wednesday (April 30) into a nearby sugarcane field. The Forest Department launched a search operation with the help of a rescue team, a dog squad and a drone over 15-20 acres of fields. They could not locate the body till late night on Wednesday.
They started afresh early in the morning on Thursday. The sniffer dog found the trail and the body was located at noon in a field. The family members of the baby broke down after seeing its body. The Forest Department conducted a panchnama.
