Pune: Rising Crimes Against Women in City: Medical Supervisor Raped Woman Sanitation Worker at Jupiter Hospital in Baner

The crimes against women are increasing day by day in Pune city. After the harrowing incident of sexual assault on a college-going girl in Bopdev Ghat by a few individuals was revealed, another shocking incident has come to light from Baner. A supervisor working at Jupiter Hospital in Baner has raped a woman sanitation worker of the hospital.
Chaturshringi police have arrested the supervisor in this case. This incident took place in the radiation department of the hospital on June 29 in the afternoon.
The Chaturshringi police have arrested Somnath Laxman Bengude (age 42, a resident of Talegaon Dabhade) in this regard on the complaint of a 29-year-old woman. Notably, the woman earlier complained to the security manager of the hospital in this regard. However, since no action was taken in this case, the woman then finally lodged a complaint with the Chaturshringi police.
As per the police information, the plaintiff women had gone to work on June 29 as usual. After finishing her work, the woman was coming down from the third floor of the hospital. At that time, the supervisor, Somnath Bengude, ordered her to clean the radiation department, citing a lot of dust and uncleanness in the department.
In the evening, Bengude went to the radiation department. He then closed the main door of the department and pushed the plaintiff into the changing room. There he brutally raped the plaintiff. The woman then started crying in fear. At that time, Bengude threatened to remove her from the job if she told anyone about this incident.
After that, the scared woman reported the incident to the security manager. But, since no action was taken in this matter against Bengude, the woman finally lodged a complaint at Chaturshringi police station a month later. Accordingly, the police arrested the supervisor, Somnath Bengude, in this case.
