Pune: Rupali Chakankar replies to Rupali Patil Thombare’s remarks

Pune: Rupali Chakankar has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission. This has started bickering in the NCP (AP). Party leader Rupali Patil Thombare has expressed unhappiness over her reappointment.
Rupali Patil Thombare has demanded that Rupali Chakankar should be removed from the post on the basis of the ‘one person, one post’ rule. Now, Rupali Chakankar has replied to her demand.
Rupali Chakankar said, “One person is not the entire party. People coming from other parties do not know the policies and the ideology of our party. Therefore, if the same person keeps on criticising, then one understands the mindset of that person. I do not give much importance to it.
“I have built the party organisation across the State. I am also looking after the Commission’s work. Therefore, I do not think it is appropriate to speak about such persons. This is a moment of happiness for me. I have carried out the responsibility given to me by the party. Therefore, the party has again asked me to carry it out. I am thank the party.”
Patil Thombare and Chakankar levelled allegations and counter-allegations against each other some time ago over naming of party leaders on the Legislative Council.
Now, the resentment against Chakankar has resurfaced within the NCP (AP). Party City Unit President Deepak Mankar on Wednesday (October 16) expressed his displeasure over Chakankar’s reappointment. He resigned from the party post in a get-together of party workers and office-bearers. He was expecting that the party would name him as an MLC appointed by the Governor.
‘Party was prompt to reappoint Chakankar…’
Mankar said, “Party State President Sunil Tatkar was prompt to announce the reappointment of Rupali Chakankar as the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission and then he announced the names of the MLCs appointed by the Governor. Why did not he show the same promptness about me? He did not consult party workers, who are the basis of the party organisation. When will party workers get justice? You are giving all posts to Chhagan Bhujbal. Will you not empower workers?”
