Pune Rural Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad’s Dog Veera Wins Bronze Medal at 19th Kolhapur Zonal Police Duty Melawa

In a remarkable achievement, Veera, an extremely clever and highly intelligent dog from the Pune Rural Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), secured third place at a bomb detection competition held during the 19th Kolhapur Zonal Police Duty Melawa. The event saw participation from police forces across Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, and Pune rural districts. Veera’s impressive performance earned the team a bronze medal.

The Dog Veera, selected by the Pune Rural Squad for this event, displayed outstanding bomb detection skills, successfully locating explosives hidden in various articles. The dog’s precision and efficiency earned it the third rank in the competition. Veera was honoured with a bronze medal for this achievement.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Kolhapur’s Inspector General of Police Sunil Phulari, along with Kolhapur Superintendent of Police Mahindra Pandit, and other senior officers, including Sandeep Ghuge from Sangli, Sameer Sheikh from Satara, Atul Kulkarni from Sangli, and Pankaj Deshmukh of Pune Rural Police.

In addition to Veera, Pune Rural Police Constable Ganesh Phapale and Gorakhnath Bhamgar also received bronze medals and certificates for their contributions. Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh praised the team’s overall performance, acknowledging not only Veera’s skill but also the dedication of Constable Phapale, Bhamgar, Chandrashekhar Magar, and Technician Satish Gegje.

At this time, the constable, Ganesh Phapale, informed that this is the second consecutive year Veera has won a medal at this competition.
