Pune Rural Police Arrest Manorama Khedkar, Mother of Controversial Probationary IAS Officer Puja Khedkar
Pune: Pune Rural Police officials have arrested Manorama Khedkar, the mother of controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, in connection with an FIR registered for threatening farmers with a pistol over a land dispute.
Manorama Khedkar, who had been on the run since the case was registered last Friday by Paud Police Station, was apprehended in the Mahad area of Raigad district. The arrest was made under the guidance of Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh.
According to the FIR, a land dispute in Dhadawali village, located between Panshet and Varasgaon dams in Mulshi taluka, has been ongoing. In June last year, Manorama allegedly visited the area with bouncers and threatened farmers with a pistol. At that time, no case was registered.
The situation escalated after IAS officer Puja Khedkar came into the limelight due to controversial behavior during her training posting at the Pune District Collector’s office. A video of the incident surfaced, showing Manorama with her licensed pistol.
Fearing for their lives, the farmers lodged a complaint with Paud Police Station, leading to the registration of the FIR and subsequent arrest.
