A shocking case has come to light, where a criminal gang sat in the car, pretending to be a passenger, and subsequently murdered the car driver to steal his car. The gang further mercilessly threw the car driver’s body outside the road. In this regard, the police have arrested three individuals from Nashik.

The names of the arrested individuals are Vishal Anand Chavan (age 22, a resident of Mahesh Apartment, Gangapur Road, Nashik), Mayur Vijay Solse (age 23, a resident of Gokulwadi, Srirang Nagar, Nashik), and Rituraj Vijay Sonawane (age 21, a resident of Gokulwadi, Gangapur Road, Nashik).

The murdered car driver has been identified as Rajesh Baburao Gaikwad (age 56, a resident of Nidhi Apartment, Jail Road, Nashik). Gaikwad’s body was found with both hands tied behind his back in the Santwadi area of Alephata. The Alephata police had registered a case of murder in this regard.

As per the information, Yuvraj Shinde had earlier forcibly stolen an Ertiga car using a similar crime method with the help of other accomplices. In that case, a complaint was registered against him at Chakan police station last year. The police informed that the accused is a recidivist criminal, and a case of murder is registered against Vishal Chavan and Mayur Solse in the Gangapur (Nashik) police station. Yuvraj Shinde has four cases of theft of property and assault on the body registered against him.

As per the information, Rajesh Gaikwad had come to Pune on January 27 by renting an Ertiga car from Nashik. At 10:30 p.m., Gaikwad called his wife and told her that he had left Pune. But he did not reach Nashik. Based on the information that his mobile phone was in the Samadhan Hotel on Santwadi Road on the Pune-Nashik highway, his family came to Alephata. After not being able to find him there, they initially filed his missing complaint. Meanwhile, his body was later found in the Santwadi area the next day.

While investigating the crime, the police checked CCTV footage of the road where Gaikwad’s body was found. In that, they found that two individuals were seated in Gaikwad’s car while passing from Chalakwadi Toll Plaza towards Nashik. Accordingly, when they checked at the bus station heading towards Nashik at Chakan Chowk, they found that there were three other people in the car.

As the car was found at Kasara Ghat, the police suspected that the accused might be from the Nashik area. Accordingly, the team obtained information from confidential informants in the area. They learnt that the person in the footage was Yuvraj Shinde and Vishal Chavan. Based on that information, police found that the accused were coming towards Otur. Accordingly, the police arrested the three.
