Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh’s transfer stayed

Pune: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has stayed Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Deshmukh’s transfer. He approached the CAT immediately after the transfer order. In an urgent hearing, CAT members Justice SG Sevalikar and Justice Santosh Mehra stayed the directive.
Deshmukh will continue to be the SP (Rural) Pune till the next hearing. He was transferred to his current position from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on January 31, 2024. It was a regular transfer. After seven months, he was shifted to the Mumbai Police as the DCP. No reason was given behind the move. Therefore, the CAT directed that he should not be transferred till the next hearing, which is scheduled for October 19.
