Senior Inspector Transferred; Four Police Amaldar Suspended After Viral Video Sparks Criticism
Pune : A late-night birthday celebration outside Sangvi Police Station has led to strict action against the officers involved. In response to the incident, Pune Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey has ordered the immediate suspension of four police Amaldars and attached the senior police inspector to the control room.
Following the order of Pune Police Commissioner, Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bansode has been attached to the Police Control Room, while Police Amaldar Praveen Patil, Police Amaldar Vivek Gaikwad, Suhas Dangare, and Vijay More have been suspended with immediate effect.
The disciplinary action comes amidst a midnight birthday celebration of Police Amaldar Praveen Patil, which was held outside the Sangvi Police Station on Wednesday. At midnight at 12 a.m., police officials of the Sangvi police station, joined by some known criminals, burst firecrackers, fired “sky shots” into the air, and even brandished firearms while cutting the cake of Police Amaldar Praveen Patil. Further, this birthday celebration was captured by a drone camera.
The footage soon went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the public. Citizens expressed outrage over police officers themselves openly violating regulations, disturbing the peace, and celebrating alongside criminals. As public pressure mounted, senior officials intervened in the case. Accordingly, Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey took immediate action, attaching Senior Police Inspector Bansode to the police control room and suspending the four Amaldars involved in this celebration.
