Alandi: The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will start its annual Ashadhi procession from Alandi to Pandharpur on June 19. As per the tradition, the Palkhi will start from the Samadhi Mandir around 8 pm on June 19 amidst beating of Taal-Mrudang. This was revealed by Palkhi Sohala Head Dr Bhavarth Dekhane.

Later, the Palkhi procession will halt at the Darshanbari Mandap for the day. On June 20 and 21, the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession will halt in Pune. On June 22 and 23, it will have a stopover in Saswad. Later, it will take a day’s halt each at Jejuri and Walhe, respectively. After its traditional Snan (holy bath) in the Nira river, it will rest at Lonand on June 26. Though it was supposed to be a two-day halt, it will stay in Lonand for a day. It will overnight at Taradgaon on June 27, in Phaltan on June 28, at Barad on June 29, at Natepute on June 30 and on July 1 at Malshiras.

The Palkhi procession will halt at Velapur on July 2, at Bhandishegaon on July 3 and reach Wakhari on July 4. It will arrive in Pandharpur on July 5, where the main celebration of Ashadhi Ekadashi will be held on July 6.

The traditional ‘Ringan’ will take place at Chandobacha Limb, Purandvade, Khudus Phata, Thakurbuvachi Samadhi, Bajirao Vihir at Wakhari and Isbawi Paduka, in that order on various days. During the ‘Ringan’, the Dindis (organised groups of warkaris walking along the procession) chant God’s name, sing and dance in devotion in a pre-determined manner, either in a parallel space or in a circular space.

On July 10, the Palkhi procession will begin its return journey. On July 20, it will come back to Alandi. This was disclosed by Palkhi Procession Manager Mauli Veer.
