Pune: Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule give speeches in rain
Pune: Opposition parties are agitating at various places across the State against the sexual abuse of two minor girls at a Badlapur school in Thane district. The NCP (SP) held a stir at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial near the Pune Railway Station in the city on Saturday (August 25).
The agitation was carried out in rain. NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar and MP Supriya Sule addressed the gathering as it rained heavily. In spite of his old age and fragile health, Pawar sat through the agitation. He administered an oath to the people present that they will not ill-treat women and will not allow others to torture them. Many Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders and workers were present.
Sule delivers speech in rain
Supriya Sule said, “Culprits are not afraid of the police. Many incidents such as Badlapur are taking place across the State. The government is insensitive. They alleged that agitators came from outside Badlapur. But they were Indians and they protested, what is wrong with it? Blood samples of culprits are exchanged in Pune, a drug mafia escapes from police custody and the Koyata Gang runs berserk on city roads. This is the situation in Pune. The media said that the Badlapur agitation was staged by local residents. That means the government is indulging in dirty politics. I condemn the government and the incident.”
Pawar administers the oath
Sharad Pawar said, “The Badlapur incident was unfortunate. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had ordered to sever the hands of such a culprit. The government should take the incident very seriously. It is sad that the government alleged that we politicised the incident. Is it wrong to talk about the victims? It was a heinous crime.” Then he administered the oath to the participants.
