Pune: A big divide is visible in the NCP (AP) in Pimpri-Chinchwad, which has been a citadel of the party led by Ajit Pawar. A big chunk of local party leaders met NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar on Monday (September 30).

Among the NCP (AP) leaders, who met Sharad Pawar, were former MLA Vilas Lande, Moreshwar Bhondve, Prashant Shitole, Mayur Kalate and Vinod Nadhe. They assured Sharad Pawar that they would work for the candidate chosen by him.

Earlier, the then NCP (AP) City Unit Chief Ajit Gavhane joined the NCP (SP), along with 20 former corporators from Bhosari. Vilas Lande has been meeting Sharad Pawar after he was denied the party ticket in the Lok Sabha poll.

Former corporator Bhausaheb Bhoir is also an aspirant from the NCP (AP) from the Chinchwad Assembly segment. He will hold a Nirdhar Melwa on October 3 and is most likely to contest as an independent.
